I appreciate what you’re saying. I agree, further divisiveness is not what we need right now, and slapping labels on people doesn’t get us anywhere. And thank you for encouraging white people to actively seek out tangible ways to connect, in addition to donating, reading, etc.

But I’m really okay with the term “white privilege.” It makes me uncomfortable, and that’s the point. Comfort is a hallmark of white privilege. Therefore, throwing me off the boat to paddle in the waters of confusion and disillusionment provides a real eye-opener. Without the discomfort, all my best intentions would never propel me to learn and grow even the meager amount that I am.
