I’ve found truth in this in my own experience. Like Malcolm Gladwell’s 10,000 hours, constant repetition presses a skill into our grain, makes it part of us. I like the 100x construct better, because 10,000 hours is frankly overwhelming. 100 is a number I can actually count to — a goal I can set and keep track of. I’m in the midst of taking an online course in freelance writing: picking a niche, identifying clients, setting up a website, etc etc. Marketing has never been my strong point; I’m right-brained, introverted, loathe to pick up the phone or send an email. So your article came at a good time for me: give these alien skills 100 days of solid effort and see how much more natural this becomes. I bet it’ll pay off, even just a little!
