Thank you for sharing your experience. I recently weaned off psychiatric medication and, last year, left my skeptical therapist. The catalyst was a profound experience with toad medicine and a follow-up ayahuasca journey. These two ceremonies did more for my healing than years of drugs and therapy. Not that those things didn’t have their place, but the “once sick, always sick” paradigm we have going on currently needs to change.
I think that paradigm is mostly driven by greed laced with ignorance. There is a difference between drugs and medicine. Drugs are primarily money-making tools inflicted on the sick for the sake of capitalism. Medicine, otoh, comes from a place of love and a concern with healing. Many “drugs” began from this place and ended up manufactured and mass-prescribed only for financial gain.
That’s a whole other discussion. But yes, we need therapists and doctors to have knowledge and understanding of medicine, particularly plant medicine, and its effects on the mind/body/spirit.
