Yes! I am a writer! It’s taken me awhile to own that mantle; I’ve worked many jobs and pursued another career path that I also love. But first and foremost, I am a writer. And I’m proud and happy to say so. Thank you for this post, as I think it helps to clarify one’s passion and drive. Why be a writer? (Because I have to.) What to write? (The things that bring me joy and fuel my curiosity.) How often? (Every day.) Drawing criticism for the things I write is part of the deal, but because I love what I do, it just doesn’t sting the way it might if I were doing it as a hired hand.
